Yazd, the ancient city of Zoroastrians

Among all Iran destinations, Yazd is totally different for being a part of the dessert, a real oasis in the heart of the country with a long history of Zoroastrians. The old religion of Iran that is practiced in India and some other countries. Right now the population of them is so small in the world that they receive some help from UNESCO, not to vanish. Visit the spiritual fire temple and their cemetery to know more about them. 

On the other the whole city is registered as the World Heritage of UNESCO, you can always find something interesting in each corner from the adobe neighborhood, cloth weaving workshops, decorated shrines, and so many other things. Things To Do

So what is your list of favorite things to do? We have written about the monuments on the Yazd itinerary page but if you are looking for some adventure in the outskirt of the city, the suggestions are as below: 

  • The first option is definitely TaFt village, 30 minutes drive away from the city, where it is famous for its nice weather and pomegranates gardens. Go for some trekking in the village and if you like mountain climbing then stay a night in Nartitee Eco-lodge and in the morning go to Shirkooh mountain for climbing. Don’t forget to visit Sadri Garden in this village to have some tea in the evening.
  • The other places worth visiting are the two villages of Kharanagh and Chak Chak to visit a fire temple, the ruins of the castle, and take a walk around.  
  • If you are interested in pottery making then visit Meybod, to spend some time in Iran handicrafts workshops.

Situated: In Yazd

Accommodation: This is the best city to support the idea of responsible tourism and stay in traditional hotels in Fahadan neighborhood. 

Activities: After visiting the monuments,  spend a little time in the cafes in front of the Friday mosque to enjoy the view and watch local people who are shopping in the stores around. Make sure to visit some cloth weaning workshops, that is the main souvenir of the city.
